Recent tragic events have re-surfaced the potential dangers of blinds and children, The BBSA has its own awareness campaign, called Make It Safe, and says it is fully committed, along with its members, to help eliminate the risk associated with looped cords, chains and tapes used on window blinds.

Linda Kaiser, Founder and Executive Director of Parents for Window Blind Safety (PFWBS) “We have identified eight different ways a small child can strangle in a window covering cord, But the most common method is older children reaching pull cords that are tied up out of their reach – a hazard that manufacturers don’t tell you about on window coverings they are manufacturing today. Another strangulation danger is from the inner cord – the cord that is attached to each louver. We feel that awareness, education, and the willingness to replace dangerous blinds with safer alternatives such as interior shutters are the only way to reduce the prevalence of these tragic situations.”

Le Louvre works closely with many interior designers to help find the right solutions for their clients’ homes. Whether it be for blackout, nurseries, or a colour match service to fit in with existing home décor.

The options are endless, and lead times are quick. It is time to think twice when thinking about your window requirements.
